Fusion Project – NEW YORK, Feb 18, 2014 – Two of the most exciting young artists in their own genres are launching the blueprint of multi-project collaboration throughout 2014. Master Painter Henry Asencio will be painting couture gowns of BlacMéra’s designer, Yuliana Candra, in front of live audience in three different cities: Sarasota, New York, and Nassau. The painting will be auctioned off for various causes supporting women and young girls, including Girls, Inc. and The American Heart Association. The trilogy series of events will be documented by Josh Gillick, former PBS Art Director whose work includes Emmy-winning shows Real Science and Return to the Valley. This fashion documentary film highlights the creation and the transformation process of the couture fashion masterpieces and the paintings from raw to finish, as well as the collaboration process between the two creative minds and why they dedicate this year-long project to women.
BlacMéra’s Yuliana Candra is an award-winning American Fashion Designer, who has showcased her luxury and avant-garde couture collections at New York Fashion Week, ELLE’s Style360, and Couture Fashion Week. Her signature pieces have been presented at The Oscars, The Grammys, and The ESPN/ESPY Awards. Candra has been honored by Fashion Group International as one of the Top 20 Emerging American Designers of 2013.
She is known for her powerful and complex silhouettes combined with feminine lines and meticulous details. Candra’s work has earned her accolades and strong followers in the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. A true couturier, her work exhibits dynamic emotions, stillness, strength, and vulnerability all on the same palette. She is the master of the yin’s and yang’s opposite attracts and the paradox of ideals. Candra’s design aesthetics is largely influenced by Valentino Garavani, Alexander McQueen, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Coco Chanel, and Ôscar de la Renta.

Henry Asencio is an award-winning Contemporary Abstract Naturalist American Painter, whose style combines realism with abstract painting techniques. He was the Gold and Silver Medal Winner of the Amsterdam Art Competition and he has been honored as Today’s Top Artist by Art Business News.
Merging introspection and visual spectacle, Asencio’s personal investigations of the figure and abstraction possess the power to transform today’s ideals of elegance and sensuality. His open brushwork, sweeping colors, use of texture, and precise drawing have vastly become the artist’s hallmark in creating the excitement of his masterful works of art. He is inspired by feminine beauty, life, experience, and nature. Asencio’s art has been described as “Abstract Naturalism” and his work is strongly influenced by Lucien Freud, Willem de Kooning, Pablo Picasso, and Gustav Klimt.
Asencio has been presented in sold-out touring exhibitions throughout Europe and at Sundance Film Festival. His loyal collectors include George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, and Billy Crystal. His original oil paintings on canvas can be found in fine art galleries throughout California, New York, and Florida.
The first painting will be painted live followed by a live auction at Sarasota Challenge Dance Championship on March 23 at The Hyatt Regency Grand Ballroom from 8:00 – 9:30 pm in Sarasota, Florida. The entire proceed of the auction goes to Girls, Inc. to support various life-changing STEM education programs for girls and young women.
